Born Curtneil Anthony Munroe in Clarendon on the Island of Jamaica, he came to Canada to join his father in search of a better future at the age of eleven. Like every other young West Indian trying to adjust to a North American lifestyle he was exposed to a lot of negativity in his community but determine to stay positive.
In high school, he discovered his love for music with a natural ability to dance. After dancing with several groups and doing countless performances and competitions in and around Ontario, he later discovered he possessed two other talents; writing and rapping. Knowing it would take time, he continued to dance while writing lyrics at his leisure.
Things began to change shortly after a friend persuaded him to dance on Much Music's dance program; Electric Circus by telling him his talents would be recognized and appreciated. Since then he has danced his way through twelve music videos which aired on Much Music. He has also written and performed raps on songs with artists such as Temperance, Lorraine Scott, Sheree Jeacocke, Devon, Michele Blade, M2P, Lazer Current and the legendary Canadian acapella group The Nylons.
Mystah Munroe has also gained big screen exposure by writing and performing the title song 'Destiny' for the feature film Destiny To Order.
This intense and energetic performer has also appeared in several television and radio commercials such as Coca-Cola, Shoppers Drug Mart and Red Dog Beer. His biggest exposure in the entertainment sector came when he received an Emmy Nomination for 'Mis Dis', a song he co-wrote for the CBS soap opera 'As The World Turns' with fellow writers Ken Ramm and Gerry Mosby (aka Mozz).
Mystah Munroe was also featured on the album titled 'Mozz Raggamettal ByzNyzz Featuring Mystah Munroe' released on Virgin Records.
After accomplishing such feats with various others, Munroe is ready to tackle a solo singing career. His distinctive voice, catchy lyrics and energetic performance combine together to make him a truly unique entertainer.
