March 2003 will be remembered as the month when dance music mattered again. For four consecutive weeks Room 5's 'Make Luv' topped the national charts and house music ran the roost. It's slick soul vocals (courtesy of Oliver Cheatham) and simple, but devastating production from the band's mastermind, Vito Lucente aka Junior Jack, proved an irresistible mix. 'Make Luv' put funky house firmly on the map and got a new generation back onto the dancefloor. In short, house music was back in style.
'Make Luv' and the next single, 'Music & You', are, however, just glimpses - albeit big ones - into the world of Room 5. A love of dance music's early roots in soul and disco form the inspiration for Room 5's wholly 21st century sound. This album is about quality party music. Vito Lucente stands at the centre of it all, as he conducts his 21st century soul orchestra from his Belgian hideaway and invites some of the world's greatest vocal talents along for the party.
Alongside Oliver Cheatham, Vito has brought in other personal heroes to complete his vision. Legends such as Alexander O'Neal, Freda Payne, and Delegation bring an old skool touch to proceedings, whilst new US talents Robert Walker and Charles Davis bring a new flavour to the mix. These originators shine under the auspices of Vito's immense production talent.
