hibias.ca is a Canadian Record company offering its music for preview, purchase or instant download. Once you have downloaded your music you can burn it to CD and transfer it to a portable device.

Getting Started
To purchase and download music from hibias.ca all you need is a computer (see minimum requirements below) and an Internet connection (we recommend a DSL or cable connection for more efficient streaming and downloading). All of our music files are in Windows Media format, so you will need to download Windows Media Player 9, which is available for free here.
Shopping
To find a song or album, use the search bar to search by artist, title, or album. You can also use the browse function to browse through music in a variety of genres. When you are ready to buy a song or album, click the Add to Cart button and proceed to the checkout area. Enter valid credit card information and proceed to the download page. To complete the process, follow the simple download instructions.
Listening
Once you have downloaded your songs, use the Windows Media Player to listen, burn to CD, and transfer music to a portable device. For more information on using Windows Media Player, please click here.

Hi-Bias digital download files are not compatible with Macintosh Operating Systems at this time.
hibias.ca, uses Windows Media technology. The following Windows Media Players are supported:

Your computer should meet the following specifications:
1. 233 megahertz (MHz) processor, such as an Intel Pentium II or Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) processor
2. 64 megabytes (MB) RAM
3. 100 MB PLUS 1 MB of memory per minute of downloaded music of free hard disk space
4. CD or DVD drive (DVD playback requires compatible DVD decoder software)
5. 16-bit sound card
6. Internet connection - High speed highly recommended but not required
7. Speakers, or headphones, or home stereo connectivity
hibias also requires the following Internet settings:
1. Scripting (DHTML) enabled

License/Usage Details
Beside each song listing there are a few small icons. These icons indicate how you can use the song file once it is downloaded.
To get more information on usage restrictions for each track, click on the associated icon. A window will appear with information on exactly how you are permitted to use the file once it is downloaded.
Listen:
You can listen to your music downloads as many times as you like from the computer that holds the purchased license.
Burn:
You can burn your music downloads to CD 3 times.
Transfer:
You can transfer your music downloads an unlimited number of times to 3 separate portable devices
IMPORTANT: Once you purchase a music download from hibias.ca, you are given a license for its use. All hibias downloads are encrypted with technology that controls the usage of the song. Each download contains only one license. This license will only be active on the computer to which the song is downloaded. For this reason, it is important that you purchase and download your music using your primary computer. Once you have downloaded a song, you will be able to listen, burn, or transfer from only that computer.
Purchasing hibias.ca downloads:
To purchase song or album downloads at hibias.ca, use our website to find the music you would like to buy. When you find a download you would like to purchase, click the Add to Cart button. Once you add a song or album to your cart, you will notice the number of Tracks in Cart change.
Your selections will be stored in the shopping cart until you checkout. When all desired items have been added to the Cart, you are ready to checkout.
Shopping Cart
To view the items in your Cart, press the Add to Cart button. The cart will list all of the items you selected for purchase. You can make changes to your order by removing tracks or albums from your cart using the Remove and Remove Item buttons. If you would like to select more items to purchase click the continue shopping button. If you are happy with the contents in your cart and would like to continue with your purchase, click the Proceed to Checkout button.
Checkout
You can access the Checkout from the shopping cart page or from anywhere on the site by selecting the Checkout button located at the top right-hand corner of the page.
The checkout page gives a summary of your order, listing the number of tracks selected for download, total order size, estimated download time, and total price of your order.
Below the checkout summary, there are a number of fields for requiring your billing information. If you have previously registered and are logged in, the only information you will need to enter is credit card information. If you are not logged in, you will need to fill out your name, email address, postal code, and credit card information.
It is extremely important that you enter a valid email address, as this is where you will be sent confirmation of your order. This email will also allow you to access your order at a later date.
Once this information has been entered, you must read and check the terms and conditions box before proceeding. When you have verified your purchase and entered the required information, click the Submit button.
At Hibias.ca, all personal and billing information is confidential and secure. This information is kept at Hi-Bias and is NEVER given to any third parties.
Downloading Your Order
Downloading at hibias.ca is a quick and simple process. All music files purchased can be stored on your computer, burned to CD, and transferred to approved portable devices.
Once you have completed your purchase, you can download your music right away or access it at a later date through the link provided in the confirmation email. Songs can be downloaded a maximum of 2 times.
Step 1: Select Music
Select the music files you would like to download from the table provided and click the Download button
Step 2: Choose Location
The files you have selected for download will appear in a Download Manager. Choose where you would like to save your files by clicking on the choose location button.
Step 3: Start Download
Start your download by clicking Start Download. As your downloads process, you will see the status bar progress.
Step 4: Listen to Your Music
When your download is complete you can close the program or click listen to listen to the music you just downloaded.

You can listen to your music via Windows Media Player. Use the Windows Media Player to create playlists and customize your listening experience.

Burning Music to CD
To burn your hibias music downloads to CD, you will need to open Windows Media Player. Once the player is open, follow these steps to complete your burn:
1. Click Copy to CD or Device, or on the File menu, point to Copy, and then click Copy to Audio CD.
2. In the Items to Copy pane, select the playlist or category of tracks that you want to copy from Media Library.
3. To create or change a playlist of items to copy to the device, click the Playlists button. The number of selected items and total time is displayed at the bottom of the Items to Copy pane.
4. If necessary, clear any check boxes for tracks you do not want to copy.
5. Insert a blank CD-R or CD-RW in your CD-ROM drive.
6. If necessary when using a CD-RW disc, click the Delete button to erase the compact disc.
7. If you want to change recording or data CD settings, click the Properties button.
8. In the Items on Device pane, click one of the following:
o Audio CD (available only on Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional)
o Data CD (available only on Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional)
o HighMAT CD (available only on Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional)
o Roxio CD Burning (available only on Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition (Me), and Windows 2000)
Before tracks are copied to your CD, they are inspected and, in some cases, converted to a specific file type. This process takes several minutes.
9. Click Copy.
Burning trouble can occur for several reasons, mainly to do with Windows Media Player.
Hibias.ca provides 3 opportunities to burn your purchased music. Here are some common problem scenarios to avoid when burning your Hi-Bias purchases.
1. Using burning software other than Windows Media Players Roxio burning plug-in can result in failed burns which consume your CD burning licenses. Please use only Windows Media Player to copy your tracks to CD.
2. Failing to acquire a license for your tracks before burning can result in failed burns. To acquire your licenses simply play all of your tracks at least once before copying to CD.
3. Attempting to burn your purchased tracks to CD-R media that already has files on it, or attempting to burn to CD-RW media that has not been erased, will result in failed burns which consume your CD burning licenses,
4. Using player software other than Windows Media Player cam result in mismanagement of your licenses. To ensure that Windows Media Player is the default player for your hibias purchases, open the Windows Media Player and select Tools -> Options -> File Types -> Select All and click OK.
5. The Hi-Bias service supports the Windows Media Player version 7.1 and above, but our recommended platform is the latest version of the Windows Media 9 player. To get the latest version, follow this link: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmedia/download/

Transferring Music to Portable Device
In order to transfer your downloads to a portable device the device must be Windows Media compatible. The portable device must also be Digital Rights Management compliant. Check the manufacturers specifications or contact the manufacturer to verify if your player is compatible.
To transfer your Hi-Bias music downloads to an approved portable device, you will need to open Windows Media Player. Once the player is open, follow these steps to complete your burn:
1. Click Copy to CD or Device or on the File menu, point to Copy, and then click Copy to Portable Device.
2. In the Items to Copy pane, in the drop-down list, click the playlist, category, or other item that you want to copy.
3. Clear the check boxes next to any files you do not want to copy.
4. In the Items on Device pane, in the drop-down list, click the device that you want to copy files to.
5. Click the Copy button.
The Player verifies that there is sufficient storage space on the device to copy the selected files. If there is sufficient space, the files are converted (if necessary) and copied to the portable device.
6. Repeat steps 2-5 for any other items that you want to copy to your portable device.

Registration
Registering at Hibias.ca gives you the ability to access the wishlist and experience a faster checkout process. As a Hi-Bias registrant you can also choose to receive our newsletters, informing you of new additions and special offers at our site. Registration is not obligatory and none of your personal information will be shared.
To register, click My Account located at the top right-hand of the page. The login page will appear and prompt you to register by clicking the link provided. Enter valid email and contact information in the fields provided and click the Submit button.
To login, complete the Returning Customer fields on the right-hand of the page. Enter your email address and password. Once you are logged in, you will see your name at the top of the page. If you are using a shared computer be sure to log out when your session is complete.
Account Information
Once you have registered and are logged in you can update your account information by clicking the My Account button located at the top right-hand of the page. Once you are in the My Account section you can change your email address, password, and other account information. You can also retrieve a forgotten password from this page.
Is downloading music from Hibias legal?
Yes. Hibias.ca is licensed to sell song and album downloads. When you buy music downloads from hibias.ca, the artists are compensated.
What is the quality of the files?
Unlike file sharing, hibias.ca music files are taken directly from the master recording. Most of our music files are encoded in Windows Media Audio at 192Kbps stereo. In addition, music files are encoded at normalized volume levels and feature complete information about the artist and recording.
Are hibias files MP3s ?
No. hibias music files are all Windows Media Audio format (WMA), a more advanced and efficient technology.
How do I search and find songs?
Use the search field located on the left hand of the screen to search by artist, album or song title.

Do I need to register to make a Purchase?
Yes. In order to protect you and us from the possibility of online fraud, you must register. There is no charge to register and no one will get your details but us.
What are my payment options?
You can pay for your purchase using any major credit card (Visa, Master Card, or American Express).
Is credit card payment secure?

How do I download songs/albums?
Once you have completed the payment process, you will be transferred to our download page, which will allow you to download all your tracks immediately. Select the items you wish to download and follow the prompt to save your files.

Where are my music downloads saved on my computer?
You will be prompted to choose where to save your downloads. If you are having trouble finding your files open Windows Media Player and select the Media Library option from the left hand player menu then click the Add button to search your entire computer for media files.
What if my download is interrupted or doesnt work properly?
If your download is interrupted for any reason you can initiate the download again by accessing the download page via your confirmation email.
Are there any restrictions on how I use the music files?
Every download from hibias.ca is accompanied by a license that governs how the file can be used. Tracks purchased at hibias.ca have the most flexible licensing of any legal service of its kind in Canada, and will not interfere with any of the typical ways you might choose to enjoy your music. You can listen, burn and transfer your purchase to portable devices.

Can I burn the hibias.ca music files to a CD?
Your music downloads can be burned to CD up to 3 times. Burning to CD is easy with the Windows Media Player. Simply insert a blank CD-ROM into your CD burner, and select the Copy to CD or Device option in the left hand menu. Then select the songs or playlist youd like to burn, and hit the red Copy button in the upper right hand corner of the player.
Will the burned CD play on my home stereo?
hibias files are burned to Redbook Audio Format, which means they can be played anywhere you would play a typical store bought CD.
Can I transfer music to a portable device?
All of your music downloads can be transferred an unlimited number of times to 3 approved portable devices. To transfer to a portable device, select your target portable device from the Items on Device pull-down and select the Copy to CD or Device option in the left hand menu. Then select the songs or playlist youd like to transfer, and hit the red Copy button in the upper right hand corner of the player.
